Grok Imagine Video
Grok Imagine is xAI’s generation family. This video page is the grok-imagine-video line in xAI’s public docs: text-to-video and image-to-video up to 720p, clips 1–15 seconds (default 8), generated audio, plus video edit (source up to 8.7s) and extend (+2–10s). It is not Grok Imagine Video 1.5 (native 1080p, lip-synced speech) and not Grok Imagine Image 1.5. ImgToVid does not run Grok video; the generator on this page drafts on Seedance 2.5.
01 — Capabilities
The 720p edit/extend SKU, not native 1080p Video 1.5
xAI’s video overview splits grok-imagine-video from grok-imagine-video-1.5. Fifteen seconds is the generate cap. 720p is this SKU’s picture ceiling.
01
1–15 seconds; default 8; refs cap at 10 seconds
Docs: duration 1 to 15 seconds, default 8. Reference-to-video on grok-imagine-video allows up to 10 seconds and up to 7 reference images at 720p. That 10-second refs cap is not Video 1.5’s 15-second, 14-image row.
02
480p or 720p — no 1080p on this SKU
grok-imagine-video supports 480p and 720p. Native 1080p text-to-video and image-to-video belong to grok-imagine-video-1.5. Aspect ratios include 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and several others; image-to-video follows the still.
03
Edit a clip up to 8.7s; extend adds 2–10s
This SKU is the one that edits an existing clip (source capped at 8.7 seconds, output matches the source aspect and resolution, 720p cap) and extends it by 2–10 seconds. Video 1.5 docs do not list those edit/extend modes.
04
Generated audio; not 1.5 lip-synced speech
Audio on grok-imagine-video is generated with the picture. Lip-synced speech and up to three voice references are a Video 1.5 feature. Grok Imagine Image 1.5 stills do not run from this video page.
02 — Prompt to output
Prompts that match the clips above
Each prompt describes the picture on its card. “Use this prompt” sends that text to Create. The generator on this page runs Seedance 2.5, not Grok Imagine.
- 01 · Portrait
PromptClose-up of a young man with curly hair in a grey knit sweater, soft window light. He glances away, then smiles. Slow push-in, shallow depth of field.
- 02 · Product
PromptA white leather sneaker on a pale grey studio backdrop, soft diffused light. The camera orbits slowly. Stitching stays sharp, the look stays minimal.
- 03 · Street
PromptA slow dolly down a cobblestone lane in an old European village. Climbing roses on stone walls, café tables in morning sun, a few people walking in the distance.
- 04 · Character
PromptA young woman with shoulder-length brown hair in an olive t-shirt, late-afternoon gold light. She turns her head and looks off. Breeze in her hair, a handheld feel.
03 — Where it fits
Jobs this 720p SKU is selling
xAI docs point at a 15-second generate, a 10-second reference take, an 8.7-second edit, or a 2–10-second extend. They do not sell Video 1.5’s native 1080p row here.

A 1–15 second 720p generate
Default 8 seconds. This page does not open it.

A clip edited in place, source ≤8.7s
That edit mode stays on grok-imagine-video. Video 1.5 does not list it.

An extend that adds 2–10 seconds
Continue from the last frame. That run stays inside xAI’s older video SKU.

05 — Side by side
Grok Imagine, Veo 3.1 and Kling 4.0
Grok Imagine here is grok-imagine-video. Veo 3.1 and Kling 4.0 numbers below are from those vendors’ public docs. Video 1.5’s native 1080p row is a different xAI SKU.
06 — How it works
Start a clip on ImgToVid
Step 1
Describe one shot
Subject, action, camera. Grok Imagine will not be the model that runs it.
Step 2
Use the generator on this page
It runs Seedance 2.5, because Grok video is not offered here. The prompt and the settings carry into Create.
Step 3
Generate in Create
Membership and credits are checked there. Coming back to this page does not switch the model over to Grok.
07 — FAQ
Grok Imagine, in plain terms
What is Grok Imagine?
Grok Imagine is xAI’s generation family. This video page follows grok-imagine-video in xAI’s public docs: 1–15 second clips at 480p or 720p, generated audio, plus edit and extend. Grok Imagine Video 1.5 is a later SKU with native 1080p. Grok Imagine Image 1.5 is a still product. ImgToVid does not host Grok video.
How long is a Grok Imagine clip?
Docs: 1–15 seconds, default 8. Reference-to-video on this SKU caps at 10 seconds. Edit keeps the source length, capped at 8.7 seconds. Extend adds 2–10 seconds. Those are xAI pickers, not every take on this site.
Is this the same as Grok Imagine Video 1.5?
No. Video 1.5 is native 1080p text-to-video and image-to-video, lip-synced speech, up to 14 references and pinned frames. This page is the 720p SKU that edits and extends. Neither runs on ImgToVid.
Does Grok Imagine generate audio?
Yes — generated audio with the picture on grok-imagine-video. Lip-synced speech and voice references are listed on Video 1.5. That is xAI sound, not a Grok one-shot soundtrack on ImgToVid.
Can I generate Grok Imagine videos on ImgToVid?
No. The generator on this page runs Seedance 2.5 so you can draft a shot. Grok video is marked coming soon.
Can I use the results commercially?
Commercial use of anything you generate on ImgToVid depends on your plan. Check Pricing and our Terms before you publish, and make sure prompts and uploads do not infringe someone else’s rights.
Grok Imagine is not the button on this page
You can still draft the shot. The generator runs Seedance 2.5, and the prompt goes with you into Create.
